Greetings epvpers,

I'm excited to present you Aeternitas Online! Aeternitas Online will provide a mostly classic gameplay experience in an environment completely free of bots and without any pay2win aspects. While there might be many servers claiming to be non-bot and play2win, in Aeternitas Online it isn't only a claim but reality. There are no implemented macro functions nor will you find any gameplay affecting items in the item mall.

This server is supposed to be what Silkroad could have been if Jmax hadn't destroyed it out of greed. You'll find mostly unchanged base gameplay with many quality of life improvements and some well thought out adjustments that blend in well with the original gameplay.

Aeternitas strives to cater to both hardcore and casual players, but it's no easy task. Balancing the demands and expectations of both groups is challenging, as progress can be slow and requires patience. This is not a server for those looking to rush to the max level or expect constant hand-holding, events, and rewards. Instead, it's designed for players who appreciate a sandbox experience, a player-to-player dynamic, and the satisfaction of steady progress in a challenging environment.

While this is a part of the thread that many of you might skip, I strongly recommend you to read it, because it will make it easier to understand the changes that were made.

Aeternitas is laying focus on the open world and also a player-driven gaming experience in a fair environment. This is not the typical server which throws hundreds of events at you.

We all love this game, otherwise we wouldn’t be here almost 20 years after its release. But sometimes a breath of fresh air can't hurt, can it? After all these years, many people know almost everything about the game and there are few to no secrets left. The magic is gone. That’s why I decided to add and change a few minor things that won’t be listed exactly anywhere. Play and find them out on your own. Just to give you a few examples: These mysteries reach from hidden quests and NPCs to rare pets, cosmetics, new monsters and dungeons.

You won't find unique monster locations marked on the map, timers, monster loot tables and so on. The core of the experience in Aeternitas is to socialize with other players and explore the game to find out various secrets

However, of course I won't leave you in the dark about everything, so let's take a closer look at some specific changes.

I carefully evaluate every gameplay change, considering both its positive and negative effects. Each adjustment should seamlessly align with the server's concept and contribute to an enjoyable gameplay experience. Let me present some changes to you:

  • The monster respawn rate has been increased to ensure a smoother and more dynamic grinding experience, allowing for a more enjoyable and efficient progression.
  • Increased ferry and teleporter prices. Ferry prices are not the same everywhere, which makes normally ignored trade routes a bit more interesting.
  • Many useful systems like item linking, item comparison, copy&paste into chat, chat emojis, pet filter and more!
  • Increased vehicle pet movement speed.
  • Decreased sell prices of items sold to NPC. This change has been made to improve the importance of player2player trading and going towards a more player-driven economy.
  • Lowered alchemy tablet element requirements for degree 1 – 3
  • Server wide notices for alchemy enchantment and SoX drops
  • Many more things that will be explained more detailed down below
  • Old PvP cape system
  • Old monster models
  • Old UI
  • Inventory Sort & Stack function

You can decide yourself if you wish to sort & stack or simply stack your inventory & chest

Jobbing will be an important part of Aeternitas Online just as it was back in the old days.

In Aeternitas Online you can experience the good old 3Job system which allows you to perform all 3 professions at once. Though there are a few differences to the original one:

  • There is no penalty/wanted mode for thieves
  • There is no cooldown after unequipping a job item, though you can only unequip it in town
  • Leveling your thief profession won't lower your Trader/Hunter experience and vice versa

Furthermore, safe trades have been removed. While safe trading can be a good opportunity for new players to get to grips with the job system, it is also a limitation for everyone else. I want to encourage everyone to get in touch with other players and socialize, that’s why we’re playing an MMORPG. Make some friends, join a guild or pay a hunter and get your trade business going.

Quests are a good way to boost your grinding experience. In Aeternitas you will find the old quest system with tasks from the new one. Furthermore, almost all quests are shared among a party to encourage players to grind in a party. Also there are several custom quests (even more to come) offering many interesting reward.

These custom quests are a little different from normal quests. Some require you to read carefully, others you can get from hidden NPCs and sometimes it takes a while to find the specific location/monster/etc.

As mentioned earlier, the idea is to make use of the wonderful in-game world and giving incentive to explore it.

Another nice feature are quests for newcomers which help to obtain a weapon since we all know that markets can be pretty empty for low level degree sometimes.

As you may have noticed already, it's all about playing together and socialize in Aeternitas. Thus there has been added a completely new type of quests: Let me introduce Party Quests to you. Just like the name indicates, these quests will progress if you're in a share party only.

  • Party quests will only progress if the following conditions are met:
    • Party MUST be exp/item share type
    • Party MUST contain at least 7/8 members
    • Players MUST be relatively close to each other
    • Players MUST NOT differ more than 10 level

But this isn't where it's stops! There's another new quest based system, be prepared for Battle of leagues!

  • Server-wide competitive event featuring 3 rival NPCs/factions
  • How it works:
    • Players choose one of three NPCs to support, joining their league
    • All eligible monster kills contribute points to your chosen league
    • Only party kills count (must meet standard party quest requirements: 7/8-member party, experience share enabled, level restrictions)
  • Cycle Timeline:
    • New cycle starts every Saturday at 18:00 (Only this time it will start instantly after this update)
    • Recruitment Phase: First 24 hours only - players must join a league during this window
    • Competition Phase: Remaining 6 days - kill monsters to contribute points
    • Quest Progress can be during Recruitment & Competition Phase, but will be hidden during Recruitment Phase
    • Cycle ends the following Saturday at 18:00
    • Important: Switching leagues after recruitment phase ends is impossible to prevent strategic exploitation
  • Rewards:
    • Winning league receives a unique server-wide buff for 3 days
    • Each league offers a different buff type
    • Results announced immediately after cycle ends
  • Restrictions:
    • Cannot join multiple leagues simultaneously
    • Late registration (after 24h window) is not possible
    • Leaving a league after recruitment phase counts as forfeit - no rejoining same cycle

Alchemy is a substantial part of the game, loved by many and hated by others. Normally, alchemy is spoiled by pay2win, which leads to unequal opportunities and favors those who invest a lot of money in the game.

In Aeternitas everyone has the same chances because there are no items in item mall affecting your stats in any way.

Alchemy rates are default and there are no plus limits, because there’s no benefit in creating an artificial limit and risk should be rewarded. Furthermore, you cannot stack elixirs nor stones because such items shouldn’t be hoarded too much. Though you can get your hands on elixir cubes, obviously by playing not by paying!

Astral and Immortal tablets can be bought from NPC for gold.

Elements can be purchased in Hotan at Nephrite Refiner Pahap. Furthermore destroying NPC equipment for elements isn't possible any longer, but you can still destroy your drops.

Lucky stones
can be achieved by finding green crystals that are located somewhere on the map.

In Aeternitas you can also get equipment with unique blues on it that you've most likely never seen on any other server! Here you can see just some of the new blues.

Random Elixir Boxes can be obtained from quests, events and via a new party drop system that has never been seen on any other server before (explained later).

Another exciting change is that you can experience the old alchemy system in Aeternitas, which requires low tier elements even for high tier alchemy tablets. This is especially useful to help low level chars getting into the market and also makes certain elements way more precious than others.

It is a fact that EU characters have been implemented badly into the game. The balance between EU and CH characters is kinda non-existent in the original game. Most servers address this by nerfing EU characters and giving CH characters a static buff like 10% dmg/def. I believe that this approach doesn’t address the problem in a suitable way.

In Aeternitas there’s a different approach and every build has been treated individually. Every class plays differently and has its own strengths and weaknesses. First of all I should say, that in my opinion there is no perfect balancing and that's a good thing. Builds always depend on the respective situation and not every build is equally good in every situation, that's what makes them different and makes each build unique and exciting. Sure, there are some skills and builds that are simply too strong and that's something that has been taken care of. Other builds and classes just needed a little push here and there to be more interesting and give them a good skillset to improve their strengths in certain situations. Ultimately, this is an on-going process and I'm glad for every constructive feedback that you may share with me!

There has been made in-depth changes for every skill tree, without changing or destroying the original feeling. It's too much to be listed all in this thread, so feel free to check out the discord balancing thread for detailed information!

One of the best parts of Aeternitas is the Item Mall, or rather, the items that are NOT in the Item Mall!

Most servers claim to be play2win, while they do offer such things as premium, devil spirit, alchemy stones, scrolls and what else just in a nerfed state or with an opportunity to get silk in other ways but in a rate that does not allow you to compete with players who spend much money. This is not and should not be the definition of fair gameplay with equal chances.

In Aeternitas you will only find cosmetic items. It is also not possible to enhance your dress with blue stats. Furthermore it is not possible to trade silk items to avoid negative effects on the in-game economy.

A donation is a good way to support the server, but it does not give you an advantage over other players.

Seal of Star, Seal of Moon and Seal of Sun items can be obtained in the classic way, by grinding.

In Aeternitas you will find the old-school SoX system which allows you to get SoX drops even 1 degree higher than the actual monster degree. This offers the great oportunity to find SoX gear during leveling that will be useful once you hit the next degree instead of having a dead item in your storage!

As mentioned earlier, on Aeternitas it's all about playing together and socialize. However, the original game doesn't really benefit those who play in a party leading to most players grinding in a solo party because it's more efficient. These days are gone in Aeternitas!
The party drop system on Aeternitas is something that you won't find on any other server. There are 2 different drop systems:

  • SOX items drop system
  • "Regular" items drop system

  • SOX System: This is additionally to the regular SOX drop system, meaning you can technically get 1 drop from each system by killing a single monster
    • Some (non-sox) drops are obtainable from all mobs, while others can be dropped by certain monsters only. For example some items will be dropped by Dunhuang cave monsters only. The item pool contains over 230 items right now and may vary over time, meaning some items will be added and others removed.
    • Party SOX drop system will roll for a drop on each rarity group (star, moon, sun) per monster, just as the regular SOX system.
    • Party SOX rate is overall higher than the solo SOX drop rate
    • There are several modifiers that will affect BOTH systems
      • Party Champions & Party Giants have an increased drop chance
      • Killing monsters above your level (up to a maximum of 10 level) will increase your drop chance. Killing monsters below your level decreases (up to a maximum of 10 level) your drop chance significantly
      • Each party member does increase the drop chance (yourself excluded)
      • Killing Dunhuang Stone Cave monsters will increase your drop chance based on the floor (higher floor = higher drop chance)
  • Both systems only apply if:
    • killer is in a full share party with at least 3 members
    • party members are relatively close to each other
    • level between all party members don't differ more than 10 levels
    • killed monster level does not differ more than 10 levels
    • killed monster is a party monster

Here's a small preview of some items that can be dropped by the regular party drop system.

Uniques are an indispensable part of the game and also they’re prestigious, it’s simply cool to have your name displayed server-wide!

Though searching for uniques on the same spots over and over again is kinda boring. That’s why all uniques received new locations and they’ve been tweaked in other ways. Remember that feeling you had the first time you unexpectedly stumbled into a unique while grinding? Well, now it can happen again!

There are a few new uniques additionally to the known ones. All of them have new and unique skills and visuals. Also they might be stronger as you expect and for some you will need a good group to slay them.

Uniques will also give you some precious and useful items, though nothing that would give you an unfair advantage.

You may ask „why do you do this to me?“. Well, basically because of the same reasons as before. Interact with other players and ask them for a buff, buy crafted speed potions from the market or take advantage of the new, buffed vehicle pets. Movement speed is highly underrated by most servers and players, and simply giving everyone the ability to buy a 100% speed potion seems kind of unfair while it’s part of certain skill trees / builds. By removing speed potions from shops we have 2 main effects. First one is that those who craft and sell speed potions can do this for a way higher price now, because this item is much more valuable as before. The second reason is that it boosts certain builds that have access to speed buffs, thus there will be a greater variety of builds and players going for a mobility build won’t feel like having a useless skill any longer.

Also you can find speed crates that are distributed all over the map from which you can drop speed potions. Farming these can be a rewarding side activity!

Some parts of the world have been overhauled to be more beautiful. At other places you can find new buildings alongside with new monsters, drops or NPCs with custom quests. Enjoy exploring an old world in a new glance.

Nothing is more frustrating than playing in a server full of ghosts. I think everyone who has ever played on a non-bot server know that even with 100 players the feeling is way better than on a bot server with 1000 players.

This is why all bots are blocked in Aeternitas and also you won’t find any in-game auto-hunt/macro system. You’re free to use a key-presser because it’s kinda inefficient and still requires you to actively participate in the game.

Another system to ensure that you’re really on the PC is Aeternitas captcha system that may pop-up during your grind. It has been made sure that the captcha won’t pop up during jobbing or pvp to ensure a smooth gaming experience.

I won't explain the captcha too detailed for obvious reasons. However, the base mechanism is the following:

The captcha will appear based on certain in-game activities and behaviour. Once it does appear you'll have 60 seconds to solve it. The captcha IS case sensitive, you should keep that in mind when filling it out. When you confirm the captcha you won't get any feedback whether it's passed or failed, though there is an internal handling of your input. Not answering the captcha at all or logging out in an attempt to dodge it will also lead into a failed captcha. Failing a captcha for a single or even multiple times won't get you banned instantly. There is an internal point system that will be updated constantly depending on your responses. Once your points are over a specific limit you'll be banned automatically. If you haven't failed a captcha for a while you're also able to decrease the points, so there's no need to worry that you're getting banned for failing a captcha sometimes.

Finally, I would like to thank the following people, without whom this project would not have been possible:

  • florian0 – for his SRO_Devkit, answering questions and providing help with debugging
  • Sector1337 – for answering questions, helping with some offsets and many useful releases
  • DaxterSoul– for his Silkroad File Format, answering questions and many useful releases
  • b0ykoe – for DuckSoup and answering questions
  • bimbum – for many useful releases and answering questions
  • Devsome – for Silkroad Laravel
  • gigola123 – for his navmesh tool
  • JellyBitz – for fixing collision and visual appearance of many objects, many useful releases and tools and answering questions
  • InZiDeR – for answering questions, sharing knowledge and friendship

Another shout out to many members of this community who shared their knowledge and made it easier to solve some problems.

Last but not least I want to thank all the testers that have helped me within the past months to spot bugs, gave feedback and improved this server in so many ways.

I hope I haven't forgotten anyone, if I have, I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart!

Alright server is being updated, let's review in the meantime (works with Discord-Login, nice~) :

I was invited by my brother and his guild to play here on Aeternitas about half a year ago when the level 60 cap was launched. It was my first SRO private server experience, and I enjoy it to this day.

This server shines predominantly with its strict absence of bullshit like pay-to-win, cash-grab-elements, botting, and AFK-farming, which makes the whole experience feel more old-school and the connection to its recognizable player base and community more valuable.
Rates are vanilla, making progress slow and worthwhile—you don’t feel left behind if you can’t log in for a few weeks due to family, work, or other responsibilities, nor does your progress decay to worthlessness. Thank goodness, Play2Win in this day & age!

This server, being a gem, is being polished slowly over time via updates. While this is a passion project of the admin and some implementations take time, they show ingenuity and are fire (e.g., the recent Party Drop System update; we really enjoy it, as we gather in the evenings to play and grind together.)

While I enjoy PvE, the rivalling guilds have pushed us into Job-PvP time over time and as a SRO-PvP-Newbie I was taught and taught until... our fights stopped being one-sided and supremacy had to be fought over. Hell-a fun :).
Check Aeternitas Discord: https://discord.gg/2zpAzxEqh under videos,
or one of our rival guilds’ Job-PvP encounters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9Ksen__0AM !

At the moment, many are waiting for the cap increase (level 60 → 70) and are hibernating, which slowed the gears of war—regrettable, but also beneficial for newcomers to catch up and prepare themselves.

If you’re interested but don’t want to play alone, message me in-Game: "RemainingOne / Herrlichkeit." Some friends and I recently built the English-speaking guild Paragon (18/18, 13/16, ?/14) and we’re happy to strengthen our ranks with newcomers to be part of our community and tag along in PvE, Job, and soon PvP. :D
PS: There are also german-speaking & turkish-speaking communities...

Welcome to Aeternitas.
(Here some screenshots, but check PvP youtube-video above and also check its ending at 19th min against unique Unique Encounter ;))
